about

May 1st 2012
In her recent solo venture, Margaret Lane releases a compelling departure from her experimental/rock roots.
Born out of her love of R&B and songwriting, Margaret spent the summer months post band-breakup composing and arranging demos, tracking melodies and rhymes on Garage Band under her solo-pseudonym “Chihiro.” All the while, she challenged her lyricism and vocal style working on her pending release with drummer/composer Dave King called Important Papers.
Margaret Lane was introduced by a mutual friend to amateur producer/beat-maker Marcus Rice August 2011. They teamed up to record & experiment merging styles and genres to create an ethereal, beat-driven sound.
In February 2012, friend, fashion designer, and former Project Runway alumni Danielle Everine approached Margaret in utilizing her design for Cliché’s “Avoid the Grey" fashion show at the Grain Belt Brewery. Margaret and Marcus crafted the “Shangri-La,” using the illustrations of Danielle’s designs and of the art installation as inspiration for the track.

Enjoy Shangri La.
Best,

-Margaret Lane

lyrics

Your blood is my paradise, we are no strangers...
But the devil will rise, I feel alive, we're in no danger.
Pause and applaude for all those nominated....
and I know you'll arrive in your suit and your tie singing "Happy Belated!"

Shangri La

Sun of the Ra, night of the lost, we call upon you to enter our thoughts.
And I'm cool, are you straight? You still down to meet later?

What do you fear? Does it grow in the wild?
Will you pass me a cigarette, I'll die if I don't find out...
We have received all the keys that we need now...
Don't ask me how to face it.
I'm still getting faded.

All the ways you bring me back to Shangri La.
